BELLEVILLE — One person was flown to a Charleston hospital after a helicopter accident late Monday afternoon near Lee Creek Road in Belleville, authorities said.

The pilot of the craft was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident, authorities said.

The accident happened in the 3000 block of Lee Creek Road, authorities said. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m., according to the 911 Center in Wood County.

West Virginia State Police are investigating the accident. A spokesman was not immediately available.

Among responders were the Lubeck and Pond Creek volunteer fire departments, Wood County Sheriff and State Police.
