Keel found guilty of murder, other counts

PARKERSBURG - Justin Keel was found guilty of felony murder today in the May 2022 shooting death of Terrence (T.J.) Mills Jr.
The six-man, six-woman jury delivered their verdict in the court of Wood County Circuit Judge Jason Wharton just after 3 p.m. Monday following three days of testimony last week.
Keel, also known as George Smith, was found guilty of felony murder, robbery in the first-degree, presentation of a firearm during the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. He was found not guilty of murder in the first-degree and two counts of wanton endangerment with a firearm.
Mills was shot in an alleyway near Covert Street in a planned robbery on May 17, 2022, in which Mills was delivering marijuana. He fled the scene, but collapsed in front of a house on Covert Street. He later died at the hospital from his injuries.
