Wood Magistrate

PARKERSBURG — The following cases were handled in Wood County Magistrate Court on Jan. 9:

* Kenneth Dwayne Smarr Jr., 298 Birnhamwood Dr., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license and having no insurance and fined $652.96.

* Brianna B. Gibson, 9 Waverly Acres Circle #1, Waverly, pleaded guilty to speeding 10 mph or less in excess on the highway and fined $181.48.

* Chadwick Myron Norman, Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of joyriding and released on $500 bond.

* Shelly Beth Akita, #5 Eighth Ave., Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and released on $500 bond.

* Theodore Harvey Jr., 1067 Goose Creek Road, Petroleum, was arraigned on a charge of driving on a suspended license and released on $500 bond.

* Jeffrey Darrin Deaton, 1402 Core Road, Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and held on $50,000 bond.

* Jeffrey L. Jackson Jr., 2503 Lincoln Ave., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of having expired registration and having no MVI and released on $250 bond.

* John David Casteel, 2502 Brooklyn Dr., Parkersburg, was arraigned on charges of driving on a suspended license, having no insurance, reckless driving, having no registration and second-offense driving on a suspended license and released on $3,000 bond.

* Norma Jean Collins, 70 Mitchells Court, Washington, was arraigned on a charge of petit larceny and released on $2,000 bond.

* Benjamin Fisher Pence, 568 Sixth St., Parkersburg, had a charge of DUI, less than .15 dismissed, per a plea agreement.

* David Lee Lockhart, 150 Berry Lane, Palestine, pleaded guilty to second-offense driving on a suspended license and fined $276.48.

* George L. Carpenter Jr., 322 Egypt Run Rd., Mineral Wells, had charges of operating an unsafe vehicle and failure to maintain control dismissed.

* Justin Lee Cobb, 812 15th St., Parkersburg, had charges of destruction of property and repeated phone calls dismissed.

* Aaron Matthew Ewing, 47 Gibson Meadows Dr. Apt. 132, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license (two counts) and fined $276.48. He had charges of having no insurance (two counts) and having no registration dismissed, per a plea agreement.

* Norman William Marks, 1502 Latrobe St., Parkersburg, had a preliminary hearing waived on a charge of a sex offender registration violation in giving false or inaccurate information. The case was sent to Wood County Circuit Court.

* Melinda Kay Fredrick, 1011 Tefft St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to destruction of property, fined $176.48 and sentenced to 60 days in jail which was suspended and she was placed on one year of unsupervised probation.

* Matthew Edward Deem, 1410½ B Hocking Road, Belpre, had a charge of destruction of property dismissed.

* Michael Paul Hamilton, Mineral Wells, had a charge of domestic battery dismissed without prejudice as the alleged victim does not want to proceed.

* Justin Ryan Goodwin, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to trespassing, fined $176.48 and sentenced to six days in jail which was ruled as time served.

* Nicholas Charles McCoy, 816 Lily Ave., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license and fined $276.48.

* Randy Duane Holstein Jr., 1028 Avery St. Apt. 1, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and fined $196.48. He had a charge of assault on a government employee and/or medical personnel (two counts) and obstruction dismissed, per a plea agreement.

* Christopher William Browning, 54460 St. Rt. 681, Reedsville, Ohio, pleaded guilty to petit larceny, fined $319.86 and sentenced to 30 days in jail.

* Daniel Paul Stewart, 853 Wolf Run Rd., Rockport, had a preliminary hearing waived on a charge of DUI causing death. The case was sent to Wood County Circuit Court.

* Kyle Andrew Dent, Davisville, had a charge of domestic battery dismissed without prejudice as the alleged victim does not wish to pursue the charges. A charge of interfering or preventing emergency communication was dismissed without prejudice as the alleged victim does not wish to pursue the charges.

* Nicholas Aaron Burke, 710 Knopp St., Parkersburg, had a preliminary hearing waived on a charge of manufacturing or possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I or II controlled substance – narcotic or meth (two counts). The case was sent to Wood County Circuit Court.
