Murder charge among 61 Wood County Grand Jury indictments
Melody Ann Anderson
PARKERSBURG — A Waverly woman accused of killing a man and hiding his body was among 61 defendants indicted this week by the Wood County Grand Jury.
Melody Ann Anderson, 50, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County, was indicted on charges of murder and concealment of a deceased human body, plus 21 counts of fraudulent use of an access device.
Anderson was charged in April with second-degree murder after an investigation began into the disappearance of Robert Marshall Throckmorton, whose family reported not having seen or heard from him since approximately May 2022. Anderson, who had been in a relationship with Throckmorton, told West Virginia State Police executing a search warrant at her residence that she shot him after he attempted to sexually assault her and buried his body on her property.
The grand jury returned an indictment for first-degree murder, which Wood County Prosecutor Pat Lefebure said Thursday indicates premeditation and intent. The 21 fraudulent use of an access device charges come from Anderson’s alleged use of Throckmorton’s veterans benefit card to make purchases after his death, Lefebure said.
