Wood County Commission meets new Director of Court and Support Services

PARKERSBURG -- Gerald Brandsasse was introduced to the Wood County Commission recently as the new Director of Court and Support Services by Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard.
Brandsasse replaces Charlie Johnson who recently retired. Woodyard said they lost around 40 years of experience when Johnson retired. Brandsasse came in to interview for another position and Woodyard recognized his experience would be a good fit for this position with over 26 years of law enforcement experience including time as a deputy chief with the Suffolk Police Department, he is a Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army Reserve and attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation academy as well as having a variety of experiences.
Woodyard said he is looking to redo court services after the state has authorized court officers with the same arrest abilities as a deputy sheriff within the court buildings. Brandsasse said they are looking at different aspects of court security, home confinement and more.
