Authorities: Wood County man facing charges after wrong-way driving leads to car crashes

PARKERSBURG -- A Williamstown man was charged Thursday morning with driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury after allegedly causing multiple accidents while driving the wrong way on U.S. 50.
Andrew Warwick, 36, of 589 Old River Road, Williamstown, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of U.S.50 on Wednesday evening, according to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court. At the 16.5 mile marker, his black 2021 Toyota Tacoma collided head on with a 2022 Kia Niro driven by Brianna L. Jones of Pennsboro.
Jones sustained serious injuries from the wreck and was life flighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She remains in serious condition, according to a Facebook post by the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
The East Wood and Waverly Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on the occupants of the vehicles, the post said.
Warwick had entered the roadway near the 21 mile marker and caused another vehicle to veer off the road into a guardrail. No injuries were reported in that incident.
The Wood County 911 Center initially reported a third accident associated with Warwick's vehicle Wednesday night, with no injuries reported.
The Wood County Crash Team - composed of Parkersburg Police, Vienna Police and the Wood County Sheriff's and Prosecuting Attorney's offices - responded to the scene.
Warwick was arraigned Thursday morning in Magistrate Court and released on a $30,000 bond.
