Parkersburg Utility Board approves payments for water, sewer line projects
PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Utility Board on Tuesday approved payments for a trio of projects that are complete or just about there.
A payment of $117,810.06 to Tribute Contracting & Consultants was approved 4-0, with one vacancy on the board, for the project to replace approximately 32,000 linear feet of large-diameter water mains.
The work is still not wrapped up, PUB Manager Eric Bennett said, because of difficulties shutting water lines off downtown. There were at least two lines that maps indicated had been abandoned but were actually still in use.
“This week, they should finish the last two connections,” Bennett said.
The board also voted 4-0 to approve a $24,729.25 payment to Stonegate Construction Inc. on the replacement of about 30,000 linear feet of small-diameter water mains.
“They are scheduled to finish … sealing and the overlays this week,” Bennett said. “And beyond a couple of punch list items, they’re complete.”
Both projects are part of an ongoing $19 million water system improvement project.
Another 4-0 vote authorized a payment of $74,158.42 to Dunlap Construction for the completed water and sewer extension on Fort Boreman Hill. Bennett said the project is complete, although some paperwork, including a final change order, must still be finished.
The work was funded with a $1.5 million state grant from the Governor’s Closing Fund and $200,000 apiece in American Rescue Plan Act allocations from the City of Parkersburg and Wood County. The initial work came in under budget, allowing for additional work to be added.
It extends utilities to property owned by the PM Company in an effort to facilitate development.
