Stockport man loses life in weekend auto accident

MEIGSVILLE TOWNSHIP -- A Stockport man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Morgan County Saturday evening and a passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, the Ohio State Highway Patrol Marietta Post said.
A 2007 Kia Optima driven by Mason B. Skidmore, 21, of Stockport was traveling south near mile marker 6 on Ohio 60 at 5:21 p.m. Saturday, the patrol said.
The vehicle veered left of center into a 1999 Western Star 4900E semi traveling north and driven by Jason D. Stanley, 36, of Stockport, the patrol said
Skidmore was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said. Skidmore's passenger, Leah Hosom, 19, of Stockport, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital before being flown by medical helipcopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, the patrol said.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as a causing factor in the crash, the patrol said. The crash remains under investigation.
Responding agencies at the scene include Ohio State Highway Patrol, M&M Fire Department and EMS, Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, Tanner Towing and Recovery and A-One Towing.
