PARKERSBURG -- An episode of Investigation Discovery's show Disappeared is set to air Sunday, Oct. 15, at 10 p.m. and will feature missing Parkersburg native Gretchen Fleming.
"They basically wanted to tell Gretchen's story," David Fleming, Gretchen's father, said. "What happened leading up to the events where she went missing, and to let us tell our story about how the evening unfolded and what kind of happened leading up to her disappearance."
Gretchen Fleming was reported missing on Dec. 12, 2022, and the investigation has been ongoing since. David Fleming said the Parkersburg Police Department has been working around the clock on the case with all the resources available to them.
"It's everybody on deck," David Fleming said.
He said there are some in the community who might feel upset because they don't feel the police are doing enough but he hopes this will help shed some light on the situation.
"I think this might clear up a lot of those little details of what happened leading up to her disappearance, without people speculating," David Fleming said. "Hopefully that will give some answers to the community about what's going on."
He said the police haven't released a lot of information because it's still an open investigation.
"They're working behind the scenes and can't really communicate with the general public and let them know what the investigation entails, and what they're doing," David Fleming said. "But they keep me updated on what is going on with the investigation."
He said the support he has received from the community has been tremendous. Small businesses have donated money for the $100,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Gretchen, people have called to offer their support and prayers and people have asked to put missing person signs in their yards.
"This isn't going away," David Fleming said. "I refuse to let this turn into a cold case."
He said he knows there are a lot of unanswered questions but hopes this episode will answer some of those.
"Nationally, maybe this is going to trigger somebody, maybe somebody knows a tidbit of information they may have been withholding, and they're scared to come forward, maybe this will stir them up," David Fleming said. "And maybe put the heat on the people who were involved, or the person who was involved,"
The episode is titled "Gone With the Night."
