RIPLEY -- A 13-year-old boy whose disappearance was being investigated by the West Virginia State Police was found Saturday.

The State Police announced their search for 13-year-old Michael B. Cheek on Friday, saying he'd last been seen on Wednesday in Ripley and was believed to be with his biological father, 38-year-old Michael A. Cheek, who did not have guardianship.

On Saturday, troopers located the elder Cheek on Interstate 77 in the Fairplain area, a news release from the State Police said. Cheek agreed to take the troopers to a residence near the Jackson/Roane County line, where they found the teen.

The boy was placed in the custody of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
