PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Commission approved a resolution in support of an application for a state grant to help create a stoplight intersection for the new FedEx facility in south Parkersburg.
The resolution is in support of an application by the Wood County Development Authority for RDI and Scannell Properties, for up to $400,000 in unmatched funds and $150,000 in matched funds of industrial access road funding through the West Virginia Development Office and the West Virginia Department of Highways.
"… the Commission is aware of the need to support the installation of a stoplight near the new FedEx Distribution Center in Wood County, West Virginia," the resolution said.
FedEx built a $41.3 million distribution center in south Parkersburg behind the Walmart and Lowes stores.
The construction of a stoplight would be located at Pike Street (WV 14) and Bosley Industrial Drive (Int #4), if funding is approved, the resolution said.
Commissioners Blair Couch, Robert Tebay and Jimmy Colombo unanimously passed the resolution.
