PARKERSBURG -- The following cases were handled in Wood County Magistrate Court on Aug. 21:
* Ashton Brooke Shotwell, 602 1/2 Hillcrest Terrace, Washington, pleaded guilty to second-offense shoplifting penalties, less than $500, fined $276.48 and sentenced to three months in jail. Shotwell was ordered to pay a $50 civil penalty to the Sheetz store on Seventh Street in Parkersburg. A charge of third-offense shoplifting penalties was dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Nicholas Paul Ickes, 1605 Covert St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled substance without a valid prescription (two counts), fined $352.96 and sentenced to 30 days in jail. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of obstruction and sentenced to 30 days in jail with a credit for 8 days for time served. The sentences will run concurrent. He had charges of trespassing in a placard property, possession of counterfeit currency with intent to utter and shoplifting penalties, less than $500 (two counts), were dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Diamante Demetrius Thompson, 810 Virginia Ave., Parkersburg, had a preliminary hearing waived for charges of grand larceny, receiving or transferring stolen goods. The case was sent to Wood County Circuit Court. He also pleaded guilty to shoplifting and fined $201.48. He was ordered to pay a $50 civil penalty to Dollar General on Seventh Street in Parkersburg. He also pleaded guilty to possession of meth, fined $176.48 and sentenced to 90 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on six months of unsupervised probation. A charge of shoplifting was dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Alexander Steven Trippett, 1300 Mathoit St., Parkersburg, had a preliminary hearing waived on three counts of failure to register or provide notice of registration changes. The case was sent to Wood County Circuit Court.
* David Elwood Chaney, pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription, obstruction, fined $352.96 and sentenced to 90 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on six months of unsupervised probation. He was also sentenced to eight days in jail which was ruled as time served.
* James R. Webb Jr., 321 Walnut St., Ottawa, W.Va., pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, fined $351.48 and sentenced to seven days in jail which was ruled as time served.
* Douglas Brent Lamp, 155 Dickens Dr., Apt. 15, Mineral Wells, pleaded guilty to brandishing, fined $186.48 and sentenced to one year in jail which was suspended and he was placed on six months of unsupervised probation. He has to complete counseling classes. A charge of receiving or transferring stolen goods was dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Brenda Lou Dailey, 633 Deems Ford Rd., Walker, pleaded guilty to obstruction and fined $226.48.
* Josey Cheyenne Barton, 225 1/2 Sheldon Ave., Marietta, pleaded guilty to shoplifting and fined $201.48. She was ordered to pay a $190.06 civil penalty to the Walmart store in Vienna.
* Sandra Marie Williams Parlin, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to domestic assault, fined $186.48 and sentenced to 60 days in jail which was suspended and she was placed on six months of unsupervised probation with a credit of one day for time served.
* Jonathan Adam Laughery, Parkersburg, had a charge of domestic assault dismissed without prejudice as the alleged victim did not wish to proceed.
* Joseph Michael Grendael, 413 8th St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to trespass, fined $176.48 and sentenced to 20 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on six months of unsupervised probation.
* Gabrielle C. Walker, 1301 Ridgeway Ave., Parkersburg, pleaded no contest to first-offense child neglect creating risk of bodily injury, fined $186.48 and sentenced to 30 days in jail which was suspended and she was placed on one year of unsupervised probation.
* Charles Walter Romito, 11264 Dupont Rd., Apt. 10, Washington, pleaded guilty to obstruction, fined $186.48 and sentenced to 90 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on one year of unsupervised probation with a credit of one day for time served. A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Tyler Blaine Sinnett, 5369 Torch Road, Coolville, pleaded guilty to battery of a government employee and/or medical personnel, fined $186.48 and sentenced to 120 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on one year of unsupervised probation with a credit of one day for time served. Charges of obstruction and disorderly conduct were dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Michael Joseph Adam Bates, 2015 Nash St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to obstruction and fined $226.48. Charges of public intoxication and criminal identification bureau (neglect) were dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Nicholas Eugene Riddle, 1335 25th St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled substance without a valid prescription, fined $176.48 and sentenced to 90 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on six months of unsupervised probation.
* Travis Shane Arthur, PO Box 561, Waverly, pleaded guilty to possession of meth, fined $176.48 and sentenced to 90 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on six months of unsupervised probation.
* Autumn Nichole Mossor, 1107 Lancaster St. Marietta, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle without a muffler and fined $186.48. A charge of having no vehicle insurance was dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Trevor Paul Hutchinson, 40 Wildwood Dr., Apt. 106, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to accidents involving damage to a vehicle, fined $176.48 and sentenced to 10 days in jail which was suspended and he was placed on one year of unsupervised probation. Charges of passing through an intersection without stopping and expired registration were dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* David Eric West II, Greenbrier, Apt. #33, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license, no certificate of insurance, improper registration and fined $652.96. A charge of having an unsafe and improperly equipped vehicle was dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Lacinda Danielle McClung, 1325 Highland Ave., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license, having no insurance and fined $652.96. Charges of defective equipment and expired registration were dismissed, per a plea agreement.
* Beverly Ann Wilson, 67 Friar Tuck Road, Belleville, pleaded guilty to truancy and fined $226.48.
* Nathan Charles Davis, 1314 Spring St. Apt. 2, Parkersburg, was arraigned on a charge of third-offense shoplifting and held on $25,000 bond.
* John Robert Jackson Jr., 711 57th St., Vienna, was arraigned on three counts of fraudulent use of an access device and held on $60,000 bond.
* Chelsey Paige Hart, 1404 17th St., Vienna, was arraigned on charges of reckless driving, failure to maintain control, assault and battery and released on $3,000 bond.
* Brian Jason Fray, 166 Sunny Acres, Wintersville, pleaded guilty to no seatbelt use and fined $25.
* Jasmine Sue Rollyson, 710 Pine Circle, Davisville, pleaded guilty to shoplifting and fined $186.48. She was ordered to pay a $50 civil liability to the Sheetz store on Seventh Street in Parkersburg.
* Kasey Renee Heatherly, 5933 Outter Rd., French Creek, W.Va., pleaded guilty to shoplifting penalties, less than $500, and fined $677.33.
* Raghav Rao, 13600 Shaker Blvd., Apt. 305, Cleveland, pleaded no contest for speed limitations and fined $181.48.
* Justin Ross Whited, 394 Horse Run Road, Elizabeth, pleaded guilty to unauthorized acts with regard to wildlife without license or permit and fined $201.48.
* Dillon Gage Anderson, 10334 Veto Road, Belpre, was arraigned on a charge of third-offense driving on a suspended license and having no registration and released on $500 bond.
* Melody Lynn Smarr, 887 Man of War Rd., Walker, pleaded no contest to operating a vehicle without an inspection certificate, no proof of registration and fined $362.96.
* Mark Williams Simpson, 78 Chestnut St., Monterville, W.Va., pleaded guilty to speeding and fined $181.48. A charge of having no insurance was dismissed.
