PUB authorizes payments on water, sewer projects

PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Utility Board approved payments Tuesday for multiple projects nearing completion.
A payment of $250,347.10 was authorized to Stonegate Construction Inc. for the ongoing replacement of approximately 30,000 linear feet of small-diameter water mains.
"They're working on their last water line installation on Briscoe Road, Briscoe and Willowbrook," Utility Manager Eric Bennett said.
Pavement and yard restoration is still needed in some areas. While the contractor has been criticized for the pace at which that work was done, "they're moving along," Bennett said. "They're doing much better on restoration."
The large-diameter water main project, replacing approximately 32,000 linear feet, is also on its last line, Bennett said. Most of the work is being done at night because it's in the area of Garfield Avenue and Fourth Street.
The payment authorized Tuesday was for $473,349.87 to Tribute Contracting & Consultants.
Also getting approval was a $244,481.49 payment to Orders Construction for the backwash basin and south reservoir work, which has slowed some due to recent heat and humidity.
"Because of temperature-related issues, the south reservoir still has not been coated internally," Bennett said.
The board also approved the drawdown of American Rescue Plan Act funds allocated by the city to cover those payments.
Those actions were all approved on 4-0 votes, as was a payment of $134,300.50 to Dunlap Construction on the extension of water and sewer lines to facilitate development of property atop Fort Boreman Hill. Bennett said about 95% of the sewer and 90% of the water lines have been installed. A drawdown of funds for that payment from the Governor's Closing Fund and Rescue Plan money also was unanimously approved.
