PARKERSBURG -- The 2023 Mid-Ohio Valley Multi-Cultural Festival will bring a variety of food, crafts and entertainment together this weekend at City Park in Parkersburg.
The festival kicks off at 6-10 p.m. Friday, continues Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and concludes Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
The festival is free to the public and celebrates diversity with a smorgasbord of artists and performers. Its goal is to highlight a variety of cultural and ethnic groups, showcasing artistic performances of traditional music and dance.
A children's art workshop will be 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday inside the City Park Pavilion. Children under age 6 must be accompanied by a parent.
The children's center will feature free children's hands-on art and craft activities from different countries, international games, and up close artist's performances. The art projects will include Guatemalan worry dolls and Edelweiss hats, multi-racial paper dolls and flower pot rattles and rhythm bracelets and Chinese paper fans
The West Virginia Office of Energy will have electric cars on display and representatives from the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) will be present to share information on electrical requirement for charging electric vehicles.
The Foam Garage will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday with admission of $5 for three hours or $8 for the whole day.
The Parkersburg/Wood County Library Bookmobile will be at the festival from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday. Visitors can tour the 25-foot library on wheels, check out books and get a library card.
Train rides will be offered from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at $5 a person provided by Thomas Family Entertainment. Music is played throughout the trip.
