CHARLESTON — Another five people in the last week have died from the COVID-19 coronavirus in West Virginia, the Department of Health and Human Resources reported on Wednesday morning. The death count since the pandemic started more than three years ago is 8,149 as of Wednesday in West Virginia, the department said. Pandemic emergencies ended in May. The state has confirmed the deaths of a 74-year-old woman from Putnam County, a 79-year-old woman from Clay County, an 89-year-old woman from Putnam County, a 78-year-old man from Fayette County and a 60-year-old man from Boone County.
