An Athens County judge sentenced a Columbus man last week to eight years in prison on a first-degree felony charge of rape.
Marcus Jaylyn Kegg, 27, of Columbus, was found guilty of the charge by an Athens County Common Pleas Court jury on June 1, according to a release from the prosecutor's office.
Prosecutors sought the maximum sentence of 11 years, while the defense requested the minimum three years. Judge Patrick Lang sentenced Kegg to eight years in prison. Upon release, he will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender.
The case was investigated by the Athens Police Department.
