West Virginia officials report six new COVID deaths
CHARLESTON — Six deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus were recorded in the past week in West Virginia, the Department of Health and Human Resources reported on Wednesday.
The additional deaths raise the state’s count to 8,131 residents since the pandemic began more than three years ago.
Confirmed deaths were a 72-year-old woman from Mercer County, an 82-year-old woman from Kanawha County, a 90-year-old woman from Brooke County, a 66-year-old man from McDowell County, a 64-year-old woman from Putnam County and a 76-year-old man from Raleigh County.
Updates are provided weekly on Wednesday mornings. The federal COVID-19 health emergency expired on May 11.
All counties in the region were ranked low on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention community threat levels.
