Officials: COVID claims five more West Virginians

CHARLESTON — Five people have died in West Virginia from the COVID-19 coronavirus in the last week, the Department of Health and Human Resources said Wednesday.

The death toll is 8,136 residents since the pandemic started more than three years ago.

Deaths confirmed were a 69-year-old man from Ohio County, a 64-year-old woman from Harrison County, a 74-year-old man from Monongalia County, an 81-year-old woman from Lincoln County and a 77-year old woman from Raleigh County.

Updates are provided once a week. The federal pandemic emergency ended on May 11.
