PARKERSBURG -- The Wood County Board of Education have scheduled multiple meetings beginning today, April 15.
The board will meet 9 a.m. today, April 15, at the Central Office, 1210 13th St., in Parkersburg for a budget work session. The meeting is open to the public.
The board and officials will go through the 2023-24 school year budget and will discuss a possible reorganization of the central office. The board also will be asked to vote on several personnel items.
The board also will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Parkersburg High School for Local School Improvement Council presentations.
The schools participating in the presentations are Criss Elementary, Greenmont Elementary, Emerson Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Kanawha Elementary, Madison Elementary, Neale Elementary, Vienna Elementary, Hamilton Middle, Jackson Middle, VanDevender Middle and Parkersburg High School.
LSICs are required by state law and are comprised of representatives of the school community, including personnel, parents and residents. The LSICs work toward improvements to school buildings and communities.
Monday's event will give all of the feeder schools for Parkersburg High the chance to show themselves off, highlighting special programs and giving students a chance to talk about their schools.
LSIC Showcase meetings also will be held April 24 at Parkersburg South High School and April 27 at Williamstown High School.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a meeting required by statute at the Central Office to vote on levy rates for fiscal 2024. The rates were presented at the March 14 meeting and have been approved by the State Auditor.
