CHARLESTON -- Nine more people have died from the COVID-19 coronavirus since last week in West Virginia, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said Wednesday in its weekly virus update.
The deaths included a 43-year-old woman from Nicholas County, the department said.
Pandemic updates changed from Monday through Friday to Wednesday-only this week.
The nine deaths since last week raise the total number to 7,935.
Also confirmed are the deaths of a 79-year-old woman from Ohio County, a 68-year-old woman from Lincoln County, a 64-year-old man from Randolph County, an 89-year-old man from Kanawha County, an 84-year-old woman from Fayette County, a 75-year-old woman from Logan County, an 85-year old man from Wayne County and a 100-year-old woman from Pendleton County.
Hospital numbers are now seven-day totals.
The state reported 1,407 cases hospitalized with 198 in an intensive care unit and 68 on a ventilator. Thirty-four pediatric cases and 15 in an ICU were reported for the week.
