CHARLESTON -- No additional COVID-19 deaths were reported since Thursday's update, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, but there are 1,078 active cases statewide.
Seventeen of the 55 counties are in the yellow with other 38 counties remaining in the green category on the County Alert map.
Ritchie County is yellow with 9 active cases, Doddridge is also yellow with 6 cases along with Roane with 14 cases. The following number of cases were reported: Wood (54), Calhoun (0), Jackson (15), Pleasants (3), Wirt (1), Tyler (4) and Wetzel (7).
DHHR officials encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID and said "one Omicron booster shot (bivalent) is recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older who completed the primary series, and their most recent COVID-19 shot was at least two months ago."
The state's DHHR website has a WV Covid-19 Vaccination Due Date Calculator, a free, online tool that helps individuals figure out when they may be ready for a COVID-19 shot, making it easier to stay up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination.
The Center for Disease Control's COVID community level is high for Roane and Pleasants counties. The CDC encourages people in those counties to wear a high-quality mask or respirator and for people who are high risk of getting sick to remain indoors for all non-essential activity.
