PARKERSBURG — The following cases were recently handled in Wood County Circuit Court:

* Matthew Gonzales, 1403 Andrew St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty before Judge Jason Wharton in June to second-offense possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 2-30 years in prison with 37 days credit for time served. The sentence will be served consecutive to another sentence. Motions for alternative sentencing were denied. He was ordered to pay $277 in court costs and $500 in reimbursements.

* Tyson Hill, 219 Harmer St., Marietta, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to child neglect with risk of injury and placed on 18 years of supervised released.

* Jamey J. Friend, 2005 4th Ave., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle. He did not appear for sentencing on July 25. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

* Leonard Travis, 407 Neal St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty before Judge Robert Waters in June to possession of a stolen vehicle and sentenced to 1-5 years in prison with a credit of 22 days for time served.

* Ryan Holmes Ewing, 505 Lew Sullivan Way, Charleston, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to attempted burglary. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. No further information on sentencing was available.

* Scott Bush, 47 Elm St., Davisville, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to a charge of conspiracy to commit a felony. Sentencing was deferred to allow Bush time to attend treatment. A status hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13.

* Crystal Ventimiglia, 47 Elm St., Davisville, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and shoplifting. Sentencing was set for June 28. No further information was available.

* James Travis Layne, 831 Belrock Ave., Belpre, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to counterfeiting, identity theft and uttering. Sentencing was set for July 25. No further information was available.

* Zachary Sandy, 614 Burnthouse Rd., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty before Waters in June to three counts of fraudulent use of an access device. Sentencing is set for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24.

* Montgomery McCants-Goodson, 179 Federal St., Warren, Ohio, pleaded guilty before Waters in June to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver heroin. He was sentenced to 1-15 years with a credit of 12 days for time served. He was also ordered to pay $332 in fines and court costs.

* Timothy Wayne Hughes, 206 Forest Way, Waverly, pleaded guilty before Wharton in June to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was sentenced to 1-15 years in prison with a credit of 291 days for time served.

* Leonard Travis, 407 Neal St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty, through an Alford plea, before Waters in June to possession of a stolen vehicle. Motions for alternative sentencing were denied. He was sentenced to 1-5 years in prison with a credit of 22 days for time served. He was also ordered to pay $332 in fines and court costs.

* Clyde Willis, 762 Forest Way, Waverly, pleaded guilty before Waters in June to burglary and sentenced to 1-15 years and was credited 49 days for time served. Motions for alternative sentencing were denied.

* Keiran Spader, Southwestern Regional Jail, pleaded guilty before Waters in June to failure to appear and sentenced to 1-5 years in prison with a credit of 198 days credit for time served. His sentence was to run concurrent to a sentence he is already serving. He was also ordered to pay $1,272 in fines and court costs.

* Austin Hayes, 601 Stephenson St., Parkersburg, pleaded guilty before Waters to failure to appear and taking a vehicle for joyriding and sentenced in June to 1-3 years in prison with a credit of 58 days for time served and six months to be served consecutively. The sentence was suspended and Hayes was placed on probation for four years. He was ordered to pay $3,724.98 in fines and restitutions.

* Michael Vanlue, Parkersburg, pleaded guilty before Waters to third-offense domestic battery and sentenced in June to 1-5 years in prison with a credit of two days for time served. Motions for alternative sentencing were denied. The court requires he undergo intensive substance abuse treatment.
