CHARLESTON -- Statewide active COVID-19 cases remained in the 1,100 range on Thursday in West Virginia, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
The state reported 1,146 active cases, up 21 from Wednesday. Another 403 new cases of the virus have been received between Wednesday's and Thursday's report.
Forty-one counties are now green on the County Alert System Map that is based on infection rates. Green is the lowest level.
All other counties are yellow, second lowest.
Pleasants County is the only yellow county in the region.
Active cases in local counties on Thursday (previous report) were: Calhoun, 4 (1); Doddridge, 3 (1); Gilmer, 2 (2); Jackson, 10 (7); Pleasants, 9 (7); Ritchie, 2 (2); Roane, 7 (8); Tyler, 7 (5); Wetzel, 12 (12); Wirt, 0 (0); and Wood, 54 (40).
No deaths were reported in the 24-hour period between Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The death count remains at 7,406 residents since the pandemic began.
Hospitalizations from Wednesday to Thursday dropped by nine to 220. Forty patients were in intensive care units, five more than Wednesday, and 13, two more than Wednesday. Four pediatric hospitalizations with one on a ventilator were reported.
