PARKERSBURG -- A stolen vehicle caught fire Wednesday morning after a high speed police chase of over 100 miles per hour, resulting in the arrest of a Zanesville woman.
Skye Elizabeth Grissinger, 29, 1125 Lafette St., Zanesville, was traveling 84 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone southbound on Interstate 77 near mile marker 178 when officers attempted to pull her over, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.
When she saw cruiser lights, Grissinger attempted to flee and her speed reached 110 miles per hour while she was weaving around other vehicles, the complaint said.
Grissinger drove past exit 170 before making a U-turn into the median "almost striking a semi truck in the northbound lanes before continuing northbound again at speeds over 100 miles per hour passing multiple motorists," the complaint said.
Officers noticed visible flames near mile marker 172 but Grissinger continued to drive until she lost control while attempting to pass a vehicle. She then crashed into the center barrier, according to the complaint.
She was then taken into custody and it was discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Muskingum County, the complaint said.
No other vehicles were involved and she was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center. Wood County Sheriff deputy B. Turner said her injuries were minor.
Grissinger is being charged with receiving/transferring a stolen vehicle and fleeing with reckless indifference and is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
