Sternwheel Festival closes with fireworks

MARIETTA -- The 2022 Sternwheel Festival has officially come and gone, and this year's event, according to several attendees, felt more alive in the spirit of tradition and community.
With COVID-19 related issues no longer having such a hold on event preparations and procedures, committee organizers once again had greater control over the program's events, allowing for what they said was a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for all.
From many fun-focused activities for the kids to the eclectic cast of musical guests and an authentic "carnival" vibe, this year's Sternwheel Festival included many levels of family fun.
The event's director general, Jennifer Thomas, started things off during the opening ceremony, with the simple message of "following rules and having fun."
Festival-goers appear to have followed suit, soaking in the September sun, as well as Friday's featured full moon.
Attendees from all over joined crowds to be serenaded by musical talent that embraced the soul of Appalachia. And vendors provided a variety of merchandise.
Saturday night's fireworks display made a big impression on spectators and lit up the sky in a treat for all to see.
