GALLIPOLIS -- One person was killed in an auto accident Tuesday morning at Ohio 7 and Ohio 735 in Gallia County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Jason Jones, 40, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was traveling east on Route 735 and failed to yield at the stop light, the patrol said. His 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander was struck by a 2011 Kenworth semi driven north on Route 7 by Gerald Greene, 49, of Grayson, Ky., the patrol said.
Both vehicles came to rest on the east side of Route 7 where Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene by Gallia County Coroner's Office. The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Jones was taken to the Cremeans Funeral Home. Greene reported minor injuries, the patrol said.
The road remained open during the investigation. Participating agencies were the Gallipolis Police Department, Gallipolis Fire Department, Gallia County EMS, Gallia County Coroner's Office, Cremeans Funeral Home, High Road Towing, Stapleton's Towing and Red's Rollen Garage.
The accident remains under investigation, the patrol said.
