PARKERSBURG — Wood County officials conducted a public test of vote tabulation equipment this morning, a little over a week ahead of West Virginia’s primary election.

Wood County Clerk Mark Rhodes and county IT Administrator Chris Whittaker printed results without votes to demonstrate there were no votes pre-loaded into the machine. Then they printed results with each candidate receiving the same set number of votes before zeroing them out and reprinting the lists with no votes.

The zero vote totals will be printed again on Election Night before tabulation begins, Rhodes said.

Election Day is Tuesday, May 10, with polls open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Early voting is underway from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the Judge Black Annex in downtown Parkersburg. Satellite locations at the Vienna Community Building, Williamstown City Building and the Mineral Wells and Lubeck Volunteer Fire Departments open today for the same hours. All five sites will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the last day to vote early in person.
