Parkersburg Police Department investigating fatal shooting

PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg Police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 26-year-old city man Tuesday.

Officers responded around 9:35 p.m. Tuesday to a report of gunshots, Police Chief Matthew Board said. They found Terrance Mills Jr., 26, in an alley in the 1500 block of Covert Street.

Mills was taken to the Emergency Department at WVU Medicine Camden Clark, “where he succumbed to the gunshot injuries just prior to midnight,” the chief said.

Mills was the only victim in the shooting, and no one else was at the scene when police arrived, Board said.

Detectives are following up on leads as they get them, he said. No one had been arrested as of Wednesday afternoon.

“We do not feel the public at large is in danger,” Board said. “Nothing has indicated that this was at random.”

People with information about the incident are asked to contact Parkersburg Police at 304-424-8444.
