PARKERSBURG -- Two Wood County residents were arrested and charged recently with possession of drug charges.
Justin Kyle Edman, 27, Mineral Wells, and Nakitann Marie Dunn, 30, Parkersburg were arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver each.
On May 14, the Parkersburg Police received a call about drugs being found inside an apartment at 507 Postlewait Street in Parkersburg.
A witness observed bags of marijuana inside the residence and called law-enforcement, according to the criminal complaint against Dunn filed in Wood County Magistrate Court.
Dunn arrived on the scene and began throwing bags of marijuana out the window while Edman attempted to take a handful of the bags and dropped two of them as he was fleeing the residence, according to the complaint
A search warrant of the residence was conducted and officers found more bags.
The officer stated 8.4 pounds of marijuana was found, according to the complaint. Also, officers found three ziplock containers on the bed in the bedroom along with a scale.
"It is this officer's knowledge that 8.4 pounds of marijuana is far greater then what the 'normal' user would be possession of," wrote Detective C.M. Richards in the complaint.
Dunn lived in the apartment.
In a separate incident, on May 21 officers from the Parkersburg Police Department responded to 4454 19th Ave. to execute a warrant and contacted the homeowner, at which time Edman then fled out the back of the residence, according to the criminal complaint filed in Magistrate Court.
Despite being given multiple commands to stop, Edman kept fleeing from officers, according to the criminal complaint. After a short foot pursuit, Edman got on the ground and began complying with officers.
After taking Edman into custody, the homeowner gave officers written consent to search the residence, attached garage and its contents.
In the garage, officers found the defendants' car and located a total of 132 grams of marijuana in the front driver's side door in multiple bags.
Officers also located a scale, commonly used in distribution of controlled substances, in the rear of the vehicle.
Both Edman and Dunn were held on $90,000 bond.
