Gov. Jim Justice this morning announced the state will seek permission for the additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The state of West Virginia is asking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for permission to give fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, the governor said this morning.

Following the country of Israel, the state is requesting to begin offering the dose to residents 50 and older, those who are immunocompromised and essential workers who are four months out from their booster shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, Gov. Jim Justice said during the morning pandemic briefing.

“We’re sending the letter and we’re sending the letter right now,” Justice said.
