ATHENS, Ohio -- A Trimble, Ohio, man was charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop in Athens County, authorities said on Wednesday.

On Dec. 29, deputies with the Athens Major Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop on State Route 682 where they made contact with the driver, Joshua Willie, 26, of Trimble, Sheriff Rodney Smith said.

"Criminal indicators were observed during the stop and it was found that Willie was in possession of a sawed-off shotgun within the vehicle," Smith said.

Willie was ordered out of the vehicle and detained, Smith said. A search of the vehicle yielded the firearm under Willie's driver seat and suspected methamphetamine and abuse instruments related to methamphetamine, he said.

Willie was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and booked for having weapons under disability, a felony of the third-degree and possession of drugs, a felony of the fourth-degree.
