BELPRE -- The Belpre City Schools Board of Education is expected to vote in December on whether to seek a bond levy in 2022 to consolidate its facilities onto one campus under a proposed K-12 building.
At a special meeting Monday evening, the school board voted unanimously to approve two resolutions setting the stage for that December vote.
The first is a resolution requesting a special needs approval for the proposed K-12 building and the second is a resolution of urgent necessity for the proposed building. The proposed levy would involve $40 million over a 37-year period at 3.18 percent interest.
Superintendent Jeff Greenley said with Monday's passage of the two resolutions, the information will be sent to the county auditor's office to determine the millage that will be used in the levy request.
The board is expected to vote at its December meeting, scheduled for Dec. 20, whether to place the levy request on the May 2022 primary ballot for Belpre voters to consider.
In other action at the special meeting, the board approved site work and surfacing of the deteriorating Belpre High School track, approved the purchase of a truck, approved personnel matters and reviewed and approved the district's five-year financial forecast.
