Wood County Commission talks flood repair, property cleanup

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Commission accepted a bid to do a floor repair at the Judge Black Annex and discussed the cleanup of a property.

The commission accepted a bid to repair the floor in the assessor’s office in the annex. The floor was sinking after having two large automated filing cabinets set on top of it. The single bid came from United Construction Company which was the only company to attend the pre-bid meeting on the project. The bid is for $23,117 and a grant for the project is around $25,000 so the repairs are within the grant amount.

The commission gave the owners of 120 Glendale Road in Parkersburg time to begin the process of cleaning up the property. The property had trash and debris all about and inside the residence, including drug paraphernalia. The interior had mold issues throughout the home. The man living there had been taken into custody by Adult Protective Services and had been taken to a long-term case facility. The man’s son, who has legal authority, said they were looking at doing work to the home to renovate it.

Commissioners hoped the family would start with cleaning up the trash around the property before winter sets in.
