WILLIAMSTOWN — Williamstown High School kicked off its homecoming celebration Friday with the Homecoming Parade.
Teachers, students, parents and citizens of Williamstown showed their enthusiasm and school spirit to support the students and homecoming court who were a part of the parade.
Chanted cheers could be heard and candy could be seen flying as the parade drove by. After the parade, the students moved to the WHS football field in order to start the pep rally, followed Friday evening by the football game against Ravenswood. Ellen McMullen was named Homecoming Queen and Gavin Bosgraf was Homecoming King.
Tracy Wigal, Biology and Anatomy teacher at WHS, said the parade helps get the community involved in the school. She explained that the students enjoy the parade because they get to go out and show off their school spirit and that they have a great time doing it.
“When we didn’t get to have a parade last year they (the students) were very upset,” she said. “It was kind of a bummer, because we didn’t get to go out and be involved and show our spirit because we do have a lot of spirit.”

Wigal said the school and students have a multitude of spirit. Wigal explained that she loves teaching at Williamstown High School because of how great the community and students are.
“It is an awesome place to work,” she said.
