PARKERSBURG -- Seven people including two juveniles were arrested on drug charges Thursday in Parkersburg, the Parkersburg Violent Crimes and Narcotics Task Force reported Friday.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday, West Virginia State Police trooper Cpl. C.S. Jackson stopped a silver minivan at the Marathon at 116 Point Drive where Deputy Sheriff T.K. Phillips and police dog Drago assisted, the task force said.
Two firearms, large amount of money, packaging materials and over 20 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl were found in the vehicle, the task force said. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Jason Hoffman and two male juveniles, all from Akron.
While the traffic stop was being conducted, task force agents executed a search warrant on a hotel room with a connection to the vehicle at the Microtel Inn at 94 Nicolette Road, Mineral Wells, the task force said. Agents found more than 2 grams of suspected fentanyl, digital scales, packaging materials and a large amount of money, the task force said.
Arrested in the room was Jaylen Puzakulics, of Akron.
A second search warrant was executed on a different room at the Microtel Inn based on information obtained from the first two incidents, the task force said. During a search of the second room, agents found about 80 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, a large amount of money, marijuana and packaging materials, the task force said.
Arrested from the second hotel room was Tyrill Vaughn, Sonja Campbell and MaryBeth Hutson, all of Akron, the task force said.
The following charges were made:
* Jason Phillip Hoffman, 37, Akron, one count of persons prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arraigned before Magistrate Robin Waters and bond was set at $15,000 surety.
* Jaylen Deshawn Puzakulics, 18, Akron, was arrested for one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin. He was arraigned before Waters who set bond at $200,000 surety.
* Tyrill Darshawn Vaughn, 26, Akron, was arrested on one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin. He was arraigned before Waters who set bond at $200,000 surety.
* Sonja Raquel Campbell, 26, Akron, charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin. She was arraigned before Waters and bond was set at $200,000 surety.
* Mary Beth Hutson, 41, Akron, charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin. Waters set bond at $200,000 surety.
The two male juveniles, also from Akron, were charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and appeared before Wood County Circuit Court Judge Robert Waters, who remanded them to the custody of the State of West Virginia. They were taken to the Lorrie Yeager Jr. Juvenile Center.
The task force is comprised of officers from the Parkersburg Police Department, the Wood County Sheriff's Department, the Vienna Police Department, the Williamstown Police Department and the West Virginia State Police.
