PARKERSBURG -- Officials released the names Thursday of those killed and injured in a Wednesday afternoon accident on U.S. 50/Robert Byrd Highway at Parkersburg.
Chief Deputy Rob Sims, of the Wood County Sheriff's Office, said a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Richard Reynolds, 73, of Palestine, went off the road to the right and struck the left-rear tire of a West Virginia Division of Highways tractor mower.
Sims said Ronald Scott Graham, 53, of Walker, was operating the tractor mower at the time of the accident, and was transported to the hospital following the accident.
The Equinox then went across two lanes of traffic striking a rolloff dumpster tractor commercial vehicle before catching fire.
Sims said Reynolds made it out of the fire and was sent to the hospital. There were two passengers in the Equinox, Kathryn Reynolds, 71, of Palestine, who perished in the fire, and Ashley Stevens, 25, of Palestine, who made it out of the vehicle and was transported to the hospital.
Richard Reynolds and Stevens were transferred to another facility, a WVU Medicine Camden Clark Memorial Hospital spokesman said Thursday. Graham has been discharged, he said.
Sims said Chester Malone, 50, of Rockport, was driving the rolloff dumpster tractor commercial vehicle at the time of the accident and was not injured.
Sims said the cause of the accident is still unknown and is being investigated by the Wood County Crash team.
