Firearms Safety Day focusing on youths

BELPRE — The Belpre Police Department, the NRA, River City Jewelry and Pawn, Mondo Builders and DERC Park invites youth ages 10-18, male and female, to the second annual Firearms Safety Day on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 252 Downey Road, Washington, W.Va.

Firearm safety demonstrations will be followed by shooting on the range, with prizes for each age group. Participants must sign up by Aug. 1 by calling the Belpre Police Department at 740-423-7631.

Those younger than 18 must have a parent accompany them and sign a liability release waiver the day of the event.

Firearm safety and range time will be available for ages 10-11 from 10-11 a.m., ages 12-13 from 11 a.m.-noon, ages 14-15 from noon-1 p.m. and ages 16-18 from 1-2 p.m. Extra shooting will be offered from 2-3 p.m. or those who want to stay.
