BELPRE -- One person was seriously injured in a traffic accident Thursday morning on Ohio 7 near Skyline Steel, authorities said.
Patrick Richards, 34, of Parkersburg, was traveling south on Ohio 7 in a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze and swerved to avoid stopped traffic, the Marietta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Richards crossed the median into the northbound lanes where he collided head-on with a semi driven by Jerry Thomas, 48, of Chauncey, Ohio, the patrol said.
Richards sustained serious injuries and was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, then to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, the patrol said. Thomas, driving for Matt Cochran's Trucking of Nelsonville, was uninjured, the patrol said.
The accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. and remained under investigation, the patrol said.
