GRANTSVILLE -- A Grantsville man was sentenced to a minimum of four years in prison after shooting at two male victims in 2019.
Phillip Nathan Keener, 39, 173 Poplar Road, Grantsville, fired a pistol at two males after an altercation, according to the criminal complaint filed with the Calhoun County Magistrate Court.
Keener's wife contacted law enforcement reporting he had left their home with two firearms and said he was "going to finish some business," the complaint said.
The two victims were at Keener's residence and when Keener started to physically attack them, the two men left, the complaint said.
Keener fired at the vehicle as they were leaving and law enforcement saw the bullet hole in the truck, the complaint said.
"(Keener) did fire a firearm at the two aforementioned subjects with the intent to kill them," the criminal complaint said.
Keener appeared April 7 before Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge Anita Ashley for a sentencing hearing.
Defense attorney Betty Gregory moved to have Keener's sentence carried out through home confinement, but it was recommended by the state that the court cap Keener's sentence to three years, court records said.
For the attempt to commit second-degree, Keener was sentenced to one to three years in prison. He was sentenced to three years on the wanton endangerment charge,
Both sentences are to be consecutively served.
Keener is being held at Central Regional Jail.
