Wood County authorities arrest two in separate drug incidents

Kani Lamourkashmeri Allen

PARKERSBURG — A Columbus man and Parkersburg woman were arrested Tuesday after separate instances of drug sales, one of which involved a high speed chase.

A patrolman witnessed a Subaru speeding across the Williamstown Bridge followed by three Marietta police cruisers, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.

Kani Lamourkashmeri Allen, 19, 3281 Mall Creek Road, Columbus, was speeding through Parkersburg and he was found with cocaine and items related to drug sales.

The patrolman participated in the chase which went from Williamstown and along W.Va. 31 before turning on to Emerson Avenue in Parkersburg, the complaint said.

While driving on Emerson Avenue, Allen exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour and turned on to Interstate 77 southbound at the 179 mile marker, according to the complaint.

The vehicle continued to speed over 100 miles per hour and was swerving between lanes, at which point a spike strip was deployed that deflated both the front and the rear tire, the complaint said.

Allen then made a right turn on off the U.S. 50 exit and ran a red light before getting back on to I-77 and continued to drive at high speeds with the two flat tires, the complaint said.

The vehicle then exited the road and turned into a heavily wooded area where law enforcement approached the four passengers — Allen and three juveniles, according to the complaint.

Allen was found with bags of cocaine and baggies, the complaint said.

He is being charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and fleeing with reckless indifference and was being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $400,000 surety bond.

Following a separate incident, Abby Leigh Minskey, 32, 2412 Covert St. Apt. 34, Parkersburg, was arrested on a drug possession charge, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.

An officer was at Old St. Marys Pike when he noticed a female in a car that looked to be having trouble but when he approached the car, nobody was inside and he heard noise coming from the nearby woods area, the complaint said.

Minskey and a male were found and the vehicle was searched, the complaint said.

The doors were broken and had to be opened from the inside; multiple purses were inside that Minskey said belonged to her along with a notebook containing notes that looked to be calculations for drug transactions, according to the complaint.

A purple container was found that had over $1,000 in cash, baggies, 0.98 grams of a white substance and other drug-related items, the complaint said.

Another purse contained over eight grams of methamphetamine; a small amount of marijuana was found on her person, the complaint said.

Minskey is being charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver and was being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $75,000 surety bond.
