PARKERSBURG - Embezzlement and sexual assault around the region brought two males into custody after separate incidents.
Aaron Michael Parsons, 29, 4810 2nd Ave. Apt. 10, Parkersburg, was arrested after reportedly embezzling over $13,000 from Buffalo Wild Wings, his place of employment at the time, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.
The general manager of the restaurant terminated Parsons from his management position earlier this month and turned over documentation to a detective outlining how he stole money from the business, the complaint said.
According to that documentation, Parsons had been embezzling money since June 2020, the complaint said. The general manager also provided a video showing Parsons putting money in his pockets while inside the office, according to the complaint.
"The video shows (Parsons) changing the totals and then taking the money from the desk drawer and also money from the safe and placing it into his pocket," the complaint said.
According to the Parkersburg Police Department, Parsons would alter daily profit totals in the computer system while doing his end of day paperwork.
"Mr. Parsons would allegedly log into the computer system and change cash transactions to show they had been comped or provided free to the customer," the police department said.
Parsons is being charged with two counts of embezzlement and grand larceny and was released on a $15,000 surety bond.
What started as friendship through Snapchat turned into sexual assault after Stanley Austin Moore, 21, 8127 Fairview Ridge Road, New Martinsville, allegedly met with a 15-year-old girl and touched her inappropriately in public, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Ritchie County Magistrate Court.
After talking for a few weeks, Moore and the victim agreed to meet in person - Moore planned to pick her up at her home in Harrisville after her mom went to work before going to the mall in Parkersburg.
The two ate at a local restaurant, at which time Moore allegedly "firmly" touched her inappropriately while sitting next to her in a booth, the complaint said.
This went on for about five minutes and the victim was able to take a photo which she handed over to the authorities, according to the complaint.
The victim claimed she was not comfortable with the situation and did not know what to do so she went to the bathroom and sat somewhere else when she came back, the complaint said.
On another occasion, Moore sent her a text message asking if they can have intercourse in a hot tub, at a which time the victim said she didn't want to see him again, the complaint said.
The next day, Moore and a friend came to the victims house at 2 a.m. to pick her up so she could spend the night with him; the victim's mother saw him and said her daughter wasn't allowed to leave with him, according to the criminal complaint.
Moore is being charged with soliciting a minor via computer and traveling to engage the minor in prohibited sexual activity. He was arraigned in Ritchie County Magistrate Court but bond information was not available.
