Barber charged in connection with Capitol riot
PARKERSBURG – A former Parkersburg City Councilman is facing criminal charges in relation to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Eric Gene Barber, 41, is charged with disorderly conduct, theft and entering restricted buildings or grounds, according to a criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
The complaint was filed Feb. 16 and ordered sealed until an arrest warrant was executed. It was unsealed today.
Court records show Barber was assigned an attorney from the Federal Public Defender’s office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
A message seeking information on Barber was left with that office. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia directed questions to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C.
