West Virginia reports 25 new COVID-19 deaths

CHARLESTON -- The state of West Virginia confirmed Wednesday another 25 deaths from the virus including three people from Wood and Jackson counties.
The count of confirmed deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus was at 2,175 people since the pandemic began, the Department of Health and Human Resources reported in its Wednesday morning update.
The state has confirmed the deaths of a 35-year-old man from Wood County and 89-year-old and 90-year-old women from Jackson County.
The state also has confirmed the deaths of residents from Upshur, Harrison, Mingo, Jefferson, Monongalia, Cabell, Wayne, Putnam, Mineral, Logan, Mercer, Morgan, McDowell, Wyoming and Mason counties.
The state has administered first and second doses to 111,457 residents. Of the 236,000 first doses received, 223,850 have been administered and of the 144,400 second doses received, 111,457 have been administered.
Active cases were at 14,706, the lowest since late November, according to the state. New positive cases increased 429 in the 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday mornings.
The daily positivity rate is 4.26 percent and the cumulative is 5.6 percent.
The number of people in the hospital was at 362 as of Wednesday with 97 in an intensive care unit and 47 on ventilators. The numbers have been going down since peaking around Jan. 10.

* Jackson: 170 active, 1,404 recovered, 1,459 total confirmed, 163 total probable, 25,583 tests, 48 deaths.
* Pleasants: 30 active, 741 recovered, 656 total confirmed, 132 total probable, 7,374 tests, 17 deaths.
* Ritchie: 33 active, 545 recovered, 479 total confirmed, 108 total probable, 7,943 tests, 9 deaths.
* Roane: 22 active, 449 recovered, 437 total confirmed, 40 total probable, 13,844 tests, 6 deaths.
* Tyler: 98 active, 496 recovered, 386 total confirmed, 212 total probable, 7,707 tests, 4 deaths.
* Wetzel: 146 active, 876 recovered, 599 total confirmed, 442 total probable, 11,646 tests, 19 deaths.
* Wirt: 14 active, 320 recovered, 258 total confirmed, 78 total probable, 3,918 tests, 2 deaths.
* Wood: 328 active, 6,302 recovered, 5,071 total confirmed, 1,683 probable, 80,234 tests, 124 deaths.
