Weekend proves busy for authorities in Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG — Several arrests were made over the weekend in Parkersburg including seven separate incidents of drug transactions, burglaries and strangulations.
With the help of a police dog, a Marietta man was found inside someone’s garage after allegedly stealing a vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.
Nevin Clark, 33, 220 Elm St., Marietta, fled the scene of an accident on foot before law enforcement received a call that Clark was inside of the caller’s detached garage, the complaint said. Clark was found laying on the floor of the garage and the caller said Clark entered the residence in an unlocked side door, the complaint said.
Clark allegedly stole a car out of the parking lot of the League Room on Lynn Street in Parkersburg. He is being charged with grand larceny and burglary and was being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $20,000 surety bond.
A Parkersburg man is also being charged with burglary after a separate incident after allegedly breaking and entering a Vienna residence, according to a criminal complaint filed with Magistrate Court.

In December 2020, Terry Allen Smith, 62, 57 Aqua Circle, Parkersburg, was seen entering a detached garage through video surveillance, the complaint said. The video revealed Smith stealing several items and placing them into his vehicle including a firearm, an iPhone 10 and other items, the complaint said.
Smith is being charged with burglary and was released on a $5,000 surety bond.
Two firearms, a total of 28.28 grams of methamphetamine, 6.66 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the possession of James Michael Overton, 47, 615 Jameston St., Parkersburg, according to a criminal complaint.
The items were found in Overton’s vehicle and on his person upon a search following a traffic stop, the complaint said.
Overton is being charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and two counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and was being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $100,000 surety bond.

On Christmas Eve 2020, Joshua Eric Allen, 27, 5B Avery Court, Parkersburg, last known address, allegedly entered the victim’s home through a broken window and stole items valued at over $1,000, according to a criminal complaint.
The victim came home from vacation to hear running behind a barricaded door, the complaint said. The victim saw Allen running outside of the back door and also noticed a broken window.
Allen is being charged with burglary and grand larceny and was being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $30,000 surety bond.
Nathaniel Corey Strickler, 33, 1454 Rector Road, Vienna, last known address, was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl, according to a criminal complaint.
Last October, Strickler allegedly delivered one gram of fentanyl to a confidential informant, the complaint said.

Strickler is being charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and was being held at North Central Jail on a $202,500 surety bond.
After allegedly attempting to strangle his wife, David Clifton Adams, 50, Parkersburg, is being charged with strangulation, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers responded to Adams’ residents for a welfare check where the victim alleged her husband choked her, the complaint said. The victim was found with marks on her neck, the complaint said.
Adams was released on a $10,000 surety bond.
In a separate incident, Terrance Jarrod Mason, 43, Parkersburg, is also being charged with strangulation after he allegedly strangled and choked a female victim, according to a criminal complaint.
Last December, Mason allegedly threw the victim on the ground on different occasions following an argument, the complaint said. Following the altercation, the victim was found with a knot on her head and abrasions on her cheek, shoulder and back area.
Mason was released on a $10,000 surety bond.
