CHARLESTON -- Four more people have been confirmed dead from the virus from Wood, Pleasants and Wirt counties over the weekend, according to the Department of Health and Human Resources.
The count of confirmed deaths statewide was at 2,024 on Sunday, the state said in its Sunday pandemic update.
Confirmed deaths on Saturday included a 78-year-old man from Wirt County and a 69-year old man from Pleasants County, the state said. On Sunday, the department reported the confirmed deaths of a 47-year-old man from Pleasants County and a 57-year-old man from Wood County.
The state this weekend also confirmed an additional 18 residents from Kanawha, Berkeley, Boone, Marion, Jefferson, Monongalia, Wayne, Grant, Cabell, Mercer and Lincoln counties.
New positive rest results of the virus increased 661 in the 24-hour period from Saturday to Sunday mornings. Active cases totaled 21,195 with a daily positivity rate of 6.49 percent and a cumulative rate of 5.61 percent.
The state has fully vaccinated 68,230 people with 194,119 residents receiving a first dose, the state said.
Hospitalizations totaled 456 as of Sunday with 128 people in an intensive care unit and 61 on ventilators.

West Virginians may now pre-register for their COVID-19 vaccination at vaccinate.wv.gov.
New positive cases increased 905 in the 24-hour period with 22,570 active cases, the state said. The daily positivity rate is 4.66 percent and the cumulative is 5.6 percent.

* Doddridge: 61 active, 340 recovered, 306 total confirmed, 100 total probable, 5,283 tests, 5 deaths.
* Gilmer: 36 active, 545 recovered, 494 total confirmed, 93 total probable, 8,223 tests, 6 deaths.
* Jackson: 161 active, 1,367 recovered, 1,418 total confirmed, 155 total probable, 24,142 tests, 45 deaths.
* Pleasants: 39 active, 718 recovered, 646 total confirmed, 126 total probable, 6,753 tests, 15 deaths.
* Ritchie: 73 active, 484 recovered, 465 total confirmed, 100 total probable, 7,645 tests, 8 deaths.
* Roane: 42 active, 416 recovered, 424 total confirmed, 40 total probable, 13,257 tests, 6 deaths.
* Tyler: 115 active, 454 recovered, 372 total confirmed, 201 total probable, 7,150 tests, 4 deaths.
* Wetzel: 170 active, 817 recovered, 579 total confirmed, 426 total probable, 11,082 tests, 18 deaths.
* Wirt: 24 active, 302 recovered, 255 total confirmed, 73 total probable, 3,737 tests, 2 death.
