CHARLESTON -- Forty-six more people are confirmed to have died from the virus in West Virginia, the Department of Health and Human Resources said in its Tuesday morning update.
The death toll stands at 1,442 people since the pandemic began in March.
Among the confirmed deaths on Tuesday are an 81-year-old man from Wood County and an 84-year-old man from Jackson County, according to the department.
Other confirmed deaths are an 88-year-old woman from Monongalia County, a 69-year-old man from Hancock County, a 71-year-old man from Kanawha County, a 56-year-old woman from Hampshire County, a 77-year-old woman from Hampshire County, a 73-year-old woman from Fayette County, 76-year-old man from Mercer County, a 78-year-old man from Harrison County, a 77-year-old woman from Greenbrier County, an 82-year-old woman from Hancock County, an 83-year-old woman from Greenbrier County, a 94-year-old woman from Greenbrier County, an 81-year-old woman from Berkeley County, a 62-year-old man from Berkeley County, a 64-year-old woman from Kanawha County, an 80-year-old man from Lincoln County, a 63-year-old man from Monongalia County, a 76-year-old woman from Berkeley County, a 96-year-old woman from Monongalia County, a 90-year-old man from Hancock County, a 93-year-old woman from Ohio County, a 79-year-old woman from Mercer County, an 87-year-old man from Tucker County, an 88-year-old woman from Hancock County, a 96-year-old woman from Monongalia County, a 71-year-old woman from Hampshire County, an 88-year-old woman from Monongalia County, a 78-year-old woman from Monongalia County, an 86-year-old woman from Berkeley County, a 60-year-old woman from Mercer County, a 70-year-old man from Monongalia County, a 70-year-old man from Mercer County, an 87-year-old woman from Greenbrier County, an 85-year-old woman from Hancock County, a 71-year-old man from Fayette County, a 92-year-old man from Kanawha County, a 79-year-old man from Monongalia County, an 89-year-old woman from Hancock County, a 97-year-old woman from Marshall County, a 73-year-old woman from Cabell County, an 86-year-old woman from Cabell County, an 87-year-old man from Kanawha County, a 77-year-old woman from Cabell County and a 79-year-old woman from Marion County.
New cases of the virus in the 24-hour period between Tuesday and Monday mornings totaled 1,276. Of the 93,162 positive cases, 27,316 are active, the state said.
Hospitalizations include 806 people, of which 214 are in an intensive care unit, the highest since the pandemic began, and 92 are on ventilators.
All counties in the region are red, except for Roane and Calhoun that are orange, on the County Alert System map. Red is the worst level for infection rate and percent positivity.
The daily positivity rate is 12.01 percent and the cumulative is 5.12 percent.
The state has administered 56,354 doses of the vaccine from the 103,375 doses received.

∫ Gilmer: 65 active, 377 recovered, 355 cumulative confirmed, 88 cumulative probable, 6,727 tests, 1 death.
∫ Jackson: 329 active, 911 recovered, 1,163 cumulative confirmed, 110 cumulative probable, 18,823 tests, 33 deaths.
