PARKERSBURG -- Patrons of the Giving Cup coffee shop inside the Lubeck location of Williamstown Bank made it possible for Children's Home Society to receive $1,300 through their donations.

Since the opening of the Giving Cup in January 2019, Children's Home Society has been a beneficiary option for the donations.

At the Giving Cup, a variety of hand-crafted drinks are made for customers as a thank you for donating to one of the participating local organizations.

"We are happy to be able to provide assistance to Children's Home Society which offers many valuable programs for kids in need in our area," said Williamstown Bank Senior Vice President Kelly Allen. " Although our donation is a drop in the bucket, our hope is that 2021 brings more opportunity to raise donations through The Giving Cup, once our doors can be opened again, and realize its full potential."

Working with over 15,000 children and families in the region, Children's Home Society hopes to place children in safe, permanent homes.

"We are truly blessed to receive the $1,300 donation from funds raised through The Giving Cup. Without collaboration with wonderful community sponsors (such) as Williamstown Bank, we would not be able to serve our community," Brooke Heck, child and family services supervisor, said.

During the Christmas season, the organization was able to give gifts to 500 children and 80 households received food from the pantry.

More than $5,700 has been raised by the patrons of the Giving Cup for its three beneficiaries: Lubeck Elementary Schools, Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department and Children's Home Society.

"We wanted a unique way to support our community, and are excited to see what the Giving Cup has raised in its first year, despite having the lobby closed much of this year due to COVID," Sharon Anderson, President and CEO of Williamstown Bank, said. "As we are able to move past the challenges of COVID, we look forward to seeing our complete vision for the Giving Cup realized, reinforcing our commitment to the community as a locally owned and operated bank."
