PARKERSBURG -- A Belpre man died after a shooting Saturday on DuPont Road, Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens said.
According to a release from the Sheriff's Department, deputies were dispatched around 10:20 p.m. Saturday to a shots fired call at JT's Auto LLC at 1567 DuPont Road, Parkersburg.
They found 39-year-old Edward Lee Tice II, of Belpre, on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, Stephens said.
Investigation revealed that during a party, there was an altercation between Tice and Thomas C. Burdette, 27, of Parkersburg, that led to the shooting, the release said.
Multiple people present were interviewed by deputies and detectives and the investigation remains ongoing, the release said. Once it's complete, the case will be submitted to the Wood County Prosecutor's Office for review.
No one has been charged or taken into custody. With the investigation still open, Stephens said he could not comment on what led to the altercation.
