PARKERSBURG -- Four new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday in Wood County Schools.

Wood County Schools reported being informed of a positive COVID-19 case at Jefferson Elementary Center, one at Gihon Elementary School, one at Hamilton Middle School and one at Edison Middle School.

At the current time, the district had already taken steps to inform individuals that were believe to be directly exposed to the positive individuals. If a person is not contacted by the principal or school nurse, no action is needed at this time.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is working closely with Wood County Schools to identify any other potential persons who may have had close contact with the individuals that tested positive for COVID-19. If the MOVHD determines contact has occurred with the positive individual, those people will be contacted accordingly. Wood County Schools will continue to take appropriate actions, working in collaboration with the health department, to protect the safety and well-being of students and staff.
