PARKERSBURG -- A fire heavily damaged a house Thursday morning on East 12th Street in Parkersburg, the fire chief said.
The Parkersburg Fire Department responded to the fire at 901 East 12 St. near Latrobe Street at about 9:30 a.m., remaining there until about 1:30 p.m., Chief Jason Matthews said.
The cause remains under investigation, Matthews said.
The house was supposed to be vacant, but neighbors said there were people in there, Matthews said.
The structure is unsafe and will be demolished by the city, he said.
